• CloudStack Configure VPN Access on Windows 7

     Configure VPN for Windows 7  with CloudStack

     

    1.  Open the Control Panel from the Windows 7 workstation.

    2.  Click Network and Internet.

    3.  Click Network and Sharing Center.

    4.  Click Set up a new connection or network.

    5.  Choose the type of connection to create.

    1) Click Connect to a workplace.
    2) Click the Next button.

    6.  Choose how the workstation will connect to the VPN.

    1) Click Use my Internet connection (VPN).

    7.  Enter in the Internet address for the connection.  The internet address is the external IP address of the CloudStack router that was configured for VPN access.

    1) Enter the External IP Address.
    2) Click the Next button.

    8.  Enter the VPN User information.

    1) Enter the VPN Username.
    2) Enter the VPN User’s Password.
    3) Click the Remember this Password box (Optional).
    4) Click the Connect button.

    9.  Click the Skip button.

    10.  Click the Close button.

    11.  Click Connect to a network in the Network and Sharing Center.

    12.  Right-click the VPN Connection and click Properties.

    13.  Click the Security tab.

    14.  Change the Type of VPN to Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPSec).

    15.  Click Advanced Settings.

    16.  Configure the Advanced Properties of the VPN connection.

    1) Click Use preshared key for authentication.
    2) Enter the Preshared Key.
    3) Click the Ok button.

    17.  Split Tunneling allows access to the LAN and other public networks (Internet) using the local gateway.  This ensures only VPN destined traffic is sent through the VPN tunnel.  All other traffic is processed using local network resources.

    To enable Split Tunneling (recommended):

    1) Click the Networking tab.

    2) Click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
    2) Click the Properties button

    18.  Click the Advanced button.

    19.  Configure Advanced TCP/IP Settings

    1) Uncheck Use default gateway on remote network.
    2) Click the Ok button.
